Postgraduate Studies

Posgraduate Diplomas:

You can gain a Postgraduate Diploma in Science (PGDipSci) or a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Science (PGDipAppSc) with a major in Telecommunications, and study from a suite of papers on offer. A postgraduate degree in Telecommunications can lead to further study if desired: MAppSci, DipBusAdmin, MBus, MEntr, MBA, PhD. The 400-level Tele papers are suitable for students and existing telecommunications professionals wanting to up-skill and develop the necessary background to equip them in the evolving telecommunications industry.

For the PGDipSci you will need:

  • SENG401, INFO409, and 80 points from 400-level SENG and approved 400-level COSC and INFO papers.

For the PGDipAppSc you will need:

  • SENG401, INFO409, SENG490, plus a further 40 points from 400-level SENG and approved 400-level COSC and INFO papers.

Entering MAppSc students are expected to have a basic background in computer software. These 2nd- & 3rd-year undergraduate papers cover various aspects of this material.

  • SENG 401 Software Engineering;
  • One of: SENG 580 (Research Project), APPS 597 (Supervised Independent Study), or APPS 598 (Workplace-based Project);
  • Approved papers at 400-level papers, normally drawn from:400-level COSC, INFO or SENG papers;

The additional papers are drawn from INFO 403, 405, 406, 407, 409, 410, 411, COSC 410, 412, 422, 430, 431, 400, SENG 301, or a paper specially approved by the Course Director.
